Understanding Synbiotics

Are Lactomin, Lactokids and Lactocran symbiotics?
Yes! All three probiotic products contain both probiotics + prebiotics.
Synbiotics VS Probiotics
1. Probiotic – Live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host.
2. Prebiotic - A substrate that is selectively utilised by host microorganisms conferring a health benefit.
Synbiotics work in a synergistic manner between probiotics and prebiotics, whereby probiotics are good bacteria benefiting the host and prebiotics aid as food to probiotics, to further re-populate and multiply the good bacteria in the gut.
Classifying a Probiotic - A probiotic is classified into two components
This shows why a synbiotic like lactomin / lactokids is able to produce highly positive results especially in helping to relieve a condition like diarrhoea, AAD or constipation.

Classifying a Probiotic - A probiotic is classified into two components
- Genus (e.g. Lactobacillus)
- Species (e.g. acidophillus) For a Probiotic to successfully balance gut bacteria, it must arrive, survive the stomach acid and then thrive in the target area of the gut. There are many probiotics available that have not been validated to show that their probiotic can survive the passage through the stomach.
