As the famous saying goes "The greatest wealth is your health" Even in the current circumstances, if your immunity is not strong, it is never too late to boost your immunity. With so many experts weighing in on immunity as your other best defense, why not start taking care and build up your immune function.

Some Tips on Building Immunity

1. Take Vitamins, especially vitamin C, It is a potent antioxidant and a cofactor for a family of biosynthetic and gene regulatory enzymes. Vitamin C contributes to immune defense by supporting various cellular functions of both the innate and adaptive immune system.
2. Take Probiotics - Probiotic genomic and proteomic studies have identified several genes and specific compounds derived from probiotics, which mediate immunoregulatory effects. Studies regarding the biological consequences of probiotics in host immunity suggested that they regulate the functions of systemic and mucosal immune cells and intestinal epithelial cells. Thus, probiotics showed therapeutic potential for diseases, including several immune response-related diseases, such as allergy, eczema, viral infection, and potentiating vaccination responses
3. Exercise Regularly -Exercise causes change in antibodies and white blood cells (WBC). WBCs are the body's immune system cells that fight disease. These antibodies or WBCs circulate more rapidly
4. Eat a balanced and healthier meal daily
5. Learn to de-stress 
6. Have sufficient sleep -lack of sleep can affect your immune system. Studies show that people who don't get quality sleep or enough sleep are more likely to get sick after being exposed to a virus, such as a common cold virus. Lack of sleep can also affect how fast you recover if you do get sick. During sleep, your immune system releases proteins called cytokines, some of which help promote sleep. Certain cytokines need to increase when you have an infection or inflammation, or when you're under stress.


Other steps to consider when travelling to minimise exposure to viruses
  • Wiping down trays or armrests in airline seats and being mindful to cover up while coughing or sneezing at airports and on board planes.
  • Consuming thoroughly cooked food and practising personal hygiene were also important safety precautions.
